Lips, Miscellaneous

My 21st Birthday Presents!

Hi guys,

So it was my 21st birthday the other week and I got some beauty products which I thought I would show you and review. They’re a mixture of moisturisers, lipsticks, lip glosses and perfumes.

Michael Kors Wild Jasmine gift set.

Perfume- This perfume has a very clean, fresh and pretty scent which has jasmine obviously and a hint of honey suckle. It reminds me of spring, it is quite subtle and there is not too much going on. Though they call it a glam scent I find it to be more classy and feminine. The staying power is good and tends to linger all day and the bottle is magnificent. I love how it adds a touch of class to my dressing room table.

Rating: 8.5/10

Moisturiser- The moisturiser is super nourishing though it does take a while to absorb into the skin which can be a little annoying if you are on the go and hate stickiness. What is good about it though is how long- lasting the scent is, you pretty much wouldn’t need a perfume with it. The smell is still very much present even after 3 hours. The scent is very much like the perfume but is a little creamier.

 Rating: 8.5/10

Estee Lauder High Shine Gloss Collection.

Before I owned these I used to think that lip glosses were too sticky to wear comfortably. These glosses however settle perfectly on the lips, making them feel much better if they are dry or chapped.  While they absorb quickly the colour remains on the lips for up to 3 hours after application (even through eating or drinking). The red gloss which is called Wet Cranberry Shine is especially beautiful and pigmented and you do not even need a lipstick when wearing it. The 3 lightest shades are all very sheer and give a hint of colour to the lips. Raspberry Pop Sparkle is a bit more pigmented and is a fun, feminine colour while the purple one known as Plum Divine Shimmer is very pretty and unique. It would look particularly lovely with a plum lip liner to create a sort of ombre lip. Though they are all quite sheer apart except for Wet Cranberry they’re a great alternative for when you don’t want anything too opaque with but still want a hint of colour. I would recommend this to anyone who likes the natural look and isn’t ready to wear lipsticks yet. These would also be good layered on top of lipsticks to slightly alter the colour and give them some shine. While I don’t think it is necessary to buy all the colours it would definitely be handy to own one for the days when your lips need the moisture but you still want an added pop of colour.

Mac Rihanna Viva Glam Frosted lipstick gift pack.

Ahh yes. When I opened these up and saw the Mac logo I jumped for joy inside. I absolutely love the packaging and the velvet red casing of the lipsticks are so classy, they’re almost better than chanel. The sparkly makeup bag is an added bonus and great for storing your lipsticks or for travelling.

Viva Glam 1- This lipstick is beautiful and you can’t go wrong with this. It’s great for red lipstick first timers as it isn’t too bright or off putting  and is very classy. I could see it suiting most skin tones and is very similar to the deep red lip I always see Rihanna wearing on the red carpet. It makes my lips look slightly plumper than other red lipsticks I own possibly due to it’s frosted finish. It also last very long through eating and drinking and isn’t drying.

Rihanna Viva Glam 2- This is truly unique and I have never encountered a colour like it. It is like a mix of a frosted brown/ grey/ taupe and I couldn’t even name the colour when I first opened it. I have come to the conclusion that I like it and it looks much better on my lips than on the stick. While it’s not something you may wear all the time it’s perfect for night time and it definitely goes along with the whole 9o’s lip trend and is quite vampy. A suggested lip liner to go with it would be Night Moth by Mac as I researched an they’re a beautiful combination. Definitely an out there lipstick. I like it on light skin but think it would look particularly beautiful on dark skin. The only reason I’m not giving it a higher rating is because I don’t usually go for bold colours.

Fcuk Friction perfume.

I had been wanting a vanilla scented perfume for a while now so was very happy I received this.  This is a perfect day perfume as its very light, sweet and fresh. It smells like vanilla, coconut and pineapple. It reminds me of a Pina Colada and summer. I also read the other day that surveyed men love the scent of vanilla on women so hey you could even wear it on a date. It is quite cheap (around 20 Australian dollars) and lasts relatively long for the price (a few hours).

Springfields Sleepy Lavender Massage and Body Oil.

Springfields is an Australian skin care and aromatherapy brand which I had never heard before now. This massage oil is not too oily and works very well as a moisturiser. I find that it works well on legs after shaving as it’s quite soothing and calms down irritated skin. It isn’t sticky in the slightest and it has a lovely lavender and sweet almond scent which actually did make me sleepy. The springfields range is a little pricey but a small bit goes a long way.

The Autumn Tag 2014.

Recently I was tagged by Izzy Batista to do the Autumn tag and like her I am also in spring here in Australia, but I decided to do it anyway because my birthdays in autumn so it has a special significance for me and also because I really like Izzy Batista’s blog. Here are my answers.
 1) Ok we’re talking coffee- what’s your favourite seasonal drink from starbucks or another coffee shop?
Don’t like coffee! I only drink it when I’ve had like no sleep and have to work and can’t find an energy drink.
2) Accessories- What do you opt for, scarf, boots, gloves?
I would say boots as I wore them all during Autmn and Winter, I can’t stand getting cold feet, both literally and figuratively haha.
3) Music – what’s your favourite music to listen to during Autumn?
Hmm I don’t know? I didn’t know music was seasonal haha.
4) Perfume – what’s your favourite scent for this time of year?
I spend all my money on makeup and tend to hold back with fragrances haha but lately I have been wearing Beyonce’s ‘Heat’. Oh yes I do love a bit of ‘Bey’ she is queen after all (sarcasm).
5) Candles – what scents will you be burning this season?
I love vanilla and it is pretty much the only scent I buy, so yeah I would burn that.
6) What do you love most about Autumn?
My birthday’s on the first day of autumn in Australia. 🙂
7) Favourite makeup?
Bronze smokey eye with a berry or nude lip and a warm glow using a gold or peach based bronzer and blush.
8)What are you looking forward to most in Autumn?
Well next year in Autumn I will be turning 21 and  finishing uni forever, but I’m probably more excited about finishing uni. I think all uni students can relate to the collective sigh of relief we all know we will have once uni is completed. 🙂
The bloggers I tag to do the autumn tag are:
Anyone else can also feel free to do it as well. 🙂 xo
