My Favourite Moisturiser: Antipodes Rejoice Light Facial Day Cream.

Hi Guys.

So I thought I would share with you my favourite moisturiser right now. It is called Antipodes Rejoice Light Facial Day Cream. Antipodes is a New Zealand brand which uses 100% organic ingredients. Initially I was hesitant about using this as I have oily skin and was worried the nutrient rich ingredients would cause me to break out but I had nothing to worry about! It did not cause me to break out at all and if anything the blemishes on my skin cleared up more and my skin looked overall healthier. My fine lines were decreased and everything was more plumped and supple. The packaging is really nice and I love the black writing against the cream background. You definitely feel like you are treating yourself when you use it. The ingredients include avocado oil, manuka bloom and sweet almond and it smells almost good enough to eat. I would recommend this to anyone with oily/ sensitive skin and even people with dry skin though there are more richer moisturisers in their range for people with dry skin. This costs $49 AU and I would definitely recommend it to anyone with oily, sensitive skin who is worried about small, fine lines.

My 21st Birthday Presents!

Hi guys,

So it was my 21st birthday the other week and I got some beauty products which I thought I would show you and review. They’re a mixture of moisturisers, lipsticks, lip glosses and perfumes.

Michael Kors Wild Jasmine gift set.

Perfume- This perfume has a very clean, fresh and pretty scent which has jasmine obviously and a hint of honey suckle. It reminds me of spring, it is quite subtle and there is not too much going on. Though they call it a glam scent I find it to be more classy and feminine. The staying power is good and tends to linger all day and the bottle is magnificent. I love how it adds a touch of class to my dressing room table.

Rating: 8.5/10

Moisturiser- The moisturiser is super nourishing though it does take a while to absorb into the skin which can be a little annoying if you are on the go and hate stickiness. What is good about it though is how long- lasting the scent is, you pretty much wouldn’t need a perfume with it. The smell is still very much present even after 3 hours. The scent is very much like the perfume but is a little creamier.

Estee Lauder High Shine Gloss Collection.

Before I owned these I used to think that lip glosses were too sticky to wear comfortably. These glosses however settle perfectly on the lips, making them feel much better if they are dry or chapped.  While they absorb quickly the colour remains on the lips for up to 3 hours after application (even through eating or drinking). The red gloss which is called Wet Cranberry Shine is especially beautiful and pigmented and you do not even need a lipstick when wearing it. The 3 lightest shades are all very sheer and give a hint of colour to the lips. Raspberry Pop Sparkle is a bit more pigmented and is a fun, feminine colour while the purple one known as Plum Divine Shimmer is very pretty and unique. It would look particularly lovely with a plum lip liner to create a sort of ombre lip. Though they are all quite sheer apart except for Wet Cranberry they’re a great alternative for when you don’t want anything too opaque with but still want a hint of colour. I would recommend this to anyone who likes the natural look and isn’t ready to wear lipsticks yet. These would also be good layered on top of lipsticks to slightly alter the colour and give them some shine. While I don’t think it is necessary to buy all the colours it would definitely be handy to own one for the days when your lips need the moisture but you still want an added pop of colour.

Mac Rihanna Viva Glam Frosted lipstick gift pack.

Ahh yes. When I opened these up and saw the Mac logo I jumped for joy inside. I absolutely love the packaging and the velvet red casing of the lipsticks are so classy, they’re almost better than chanel. The sparkly makeup bag is an added bonus and great for storing your lipsticks or for travelling.

Viva Glam 1- This lipstick is beautiful and you can’t go wrong with this. It’s great for red lipstick first timers as it isn’t too bright or off putting  and is very classy. I could see it suiting most skin tones and is very similar to the deep red lip I always see Rihanna wearing on the red carpet. It makes my lips look slightly plumper than other red lipsticks I own possibly due to it’s frosted finish. It also last very long through eating and drinking and isn’t drying.

Rihanna Viva Glam 2- This is truly unique and I have never encountered a colour like it. It is like a mix of a frosted brown/ grey/ taupe and I couldn’t even name the colour when I first opened it. I have come to the conclusion that I like it and it looks much better on my lips than on the stick. While it’s not something you may wear all the time it’s perfect for night time and it definitely goes along with the whole 9o’s lip trend and is quite vampy. A suggested lip liner to go with it would be Night Moth by Mac as I researched an they’re a beautiful combination. Definitely an out there lipstick. I like it on light skin but think it would look particularly beautiful on dark skin. The only reason I’m not giving it a higher rating is because I don’t usually go for bold colours.

Fcuk Friction perfume.

I had been wanting a vanilla scented perfume for a while now so was very happy I received this.  This is a perfect day perfume as its very light, sweet and fresh. It smells like vanilla, coconut and pineapple. It reminds me of a Pina Colada and summer. I also read the other day that surveyed men love the scent of vanilla on women so hey you could even wear it on a date. It is quite cheap (around 20 Australian dollars) and lasts relatively long for the price (a few hours).

Springfields Sleepy Lavender Massage and Body Oil.

Springfields is an Australian skin care and aromatherapy brand which I had never heard before now. This massage oil is not too oily and works very well as a moisturiser. I find that it works well on legs after shaving as it’s quite soothing and calms down irritated skin. It isn’t sticky in the slightest and it has a lovely lavender and sweet almond scent which actually did make me sleepy. The springfields range is a little pricey but a small bit goes a long way.

20 Of My Favourite Beauty Tips And Tricks.

Here are my favourite beauty tips and tricks that actually work.

1. Brush brows with an old toothbrush or mascara wand to make them look neater.

2. Use Vaseline to make brows stay in place. You can also spray hairspray onto an old mascara wand or toothbrush to help them stay too.

3. Place sticky tape starting at the outer side of your eye up to the end of your eyebrow to catch excess eye shadow for a more precise, cleaner look. The sticky tape can also be used as a guide for applying winged eye liner.

4. Make a sugar scrub for your lips mixing honey and sugar together. This will exfoliate lips, leaving them nice and smooth.

5. Apply illuminator above your cheekbones, just beneath your brows, on the bridge of your nose and above your top lip for a dewy glow.

6. Wet the tip of your eye shadow brush before using eye shadow to give it a nice sheen and make it more vibrant.

7. Make your eyes look bigger by applying a light shade of eye shadow on the middle and inner part of your eye lid and a darker shade on the outer corner and crease.

8. Having trouble applying brow liner? Use a light brown eye shadow with an eye shadow brush to fill in eye brows. You can also get buy eye brow stencils for more control.

9. Use concealer on your eyelids before applying eye shadow as it will give the eye shadow something to stick to and make it last longer.

10. Camouflage roots by creating a zig zag in your part rather than a straight line.

11. Only use the side of a brow pencil when filling in brows as using the tip can create too much of a harsh line.

12. Avoid lipstick from ending up on your teeth by smiling and placing your finger in between your lips after applying. This will take off the lipstick that otherwise would of ended up on your teeth next time you smiled.

13. Always use bronzer beneath the cheekbone and blush on the apples of your cheeks. Sucking in your cheeks will create a guideline of where to  apply bronzer and smiling and applying blush on the puffy parts of your cheek will help you find where to apply the blush.

14. Use a nude or white eyeliner on your waterline to make eyes appear larger and more open.

15. Clean makeup brushes with shampoo and conditioner as you would your own hair to avoid them building up bacteria.

16. Don’t have the exact match of lip liner to the lip stick you want to wear? A nude lip liner will have a similar effect to using the exact colour and will help your lipstick set exactly where it should.

17. Out of makeup remover? Use moisturiser instead of makeup remover. This is especially good at getting rid of stubborn mascara that just won’t come off.

18. When playing up your lips keep your eye makeup minimal and vice versa. It’s best to choose one feature and go big to keep the look balanced.

19. Help perfume last longer by dabbing moisturiser onto the place where you intend to spray the perfume before spraying. (Perfume evaporates faster from dry skin.)

20. Brush talcum powder though hair to reduce oil, it works much like dry shampoo.

Top 5 Beauty Products Under $5.

Got some spare change and don’t know what to spend it on? Here are my top 5 beauty products of all time under $5 at Priceline.

Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser ($3.99)– This moisturiser is great for oily skin and very gentle. It doesn’t irritate the skin like other inexpensive moisturisers and lasts a long time.

Essence Metal Glam Eyeshadow ($4.50)– These colours are amazing and really do glam up any look. They put the smoulder in any smokey eye and they really makes your eyes pop. A good tip is to wet your eye shadow brush before dipping it into the eye shadow to give it more of a sheen.

Essence Strawberry Cheescake Lip Gloss ($1.80)– This lip gloss isn’t too gooey and doesn’t set on top of the lips like other cheap lip glosses. It is very nourishing and I find it similar to Lucas’ Paw Paw Ointment except yummier.

Savvy Nourishing Lip Liner in Natural and Brick ($4.99)– Natural and Brick are the only colours I own so I can’t comment on the other colours. Brick goes well with a bombshell red  lipstick and natural is very versatile and goes well with any light pink or nude lipstick. Both are easy to blend.

Maybelline Color Show Stripped Nude Nail Polish in Take it off ($2.97)–  Take it off (colour 226) is my favourite nail polish of all time as it is simply the perfect shade of nude. It looks very classy and there are other shades of nude in the range as well as other colours. It has a beautiful finish and lasts about 4 days.
